The Albanese Labor Government continues to secure more essential fuel and fertiliser to keep Australia moving, with the announcement today of approximately 31,000 tonnes of additional urea and approximately 50 million litres of additional diesel secured through the Government’s $7.5 billion Fuel and Fertiliser Security Facility.
The Government has partnered with Summit Fertilizers to support the purchase of this new shipment of urea, and with BP Australia for this additional cargo of diesel, which is destined for Perth.
This additional shipment of fertiliser will provide more certainty for our farmers as they make planting and growing decisions for the current and upcoming seasons.
This fertiliser shipment is in addition to shipments already secured in partnership with Incitec Pivot and CSBP, and brings the total fertiliser supported under the Fuel and Fertiliser Security Facility to around 240,000 tonnes of urea.
The Government continues to progress discussions with other suppliers to secure more shipments to help maintain a reliable supply of fertliser and strengthen our food security.
The new fuel shipment brings the total amount of additional fuel secured through the Government’s new Fuel and Fertiliser Security Facility to approximately 740 million litres of diesel and approximately 150 million litres of jet fuel across 18 additional shipments.
