Mr Simonet was most recently Group CEO and Managing Director of Kathmandu Holdings, which comprises the Kathmandu, Rip Curl and Oboz brands. He is a former CEO of Radley London and International Director of Seafolly Group, with extensive experience in retail and international business development.
Mr Simonet said he was excited and energised to be joining Austrade.
“I acknowledge the critical role Austrade is playing in a world full of challenges (and opportunities). It is a privilege to join the Austrade team and the Australian Public Service,” Mr Simonet said.
