Australian Export Awards showcase successful exporters
Media release

Australian exporters play a pivotal role in the prosperity and stability of the national economy, with their perseverance and ingenuity creating jobs and new businesses which benefit all Australians.
Their success in international business deserves recognition, which is why the Australian Export Awards, now in its 49th year, is so important.
"As many of the world's economies continue to struggle for economic stability, exporters have helped guarantee Australia's continued growth," Craig Emerson, the Trade Minister, said.
"It is vital, then, that the Government acknowledges their contribution to our economic prosperity."
The Export Awards is a national program that operates at two levels: exporters first achieve State or Territory distinction through their local export award program; local winners then go through as national finalists to compete against their peers on the basis of the strength of their exporting, marketing and financial strategies.
The best of the best are selected as winners in 12 categories; from these 12 the ultimate exporting accolade is bestowed on the "Prime Minister's Australian Exporter of the Year".
Last year's 12 winners generated more than $3.5 billion in export earnings and employed more than 13,000 people.
"Applications are now open around the country, and I urge all exporters to consider entering," Dr Emerson said.
State and Territory Export Award winners will be announced in September and October. National winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony in early December.
Dr Emerson will host the ceremony for the second year running.
The Australian Export Awards is co-hosted by the Federal Government's international trade and investment agency, Austrade, and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
