Review of the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Mark Vaile, today announced a review of the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation (EFIC) to ensure that its operations and services remain world class.

EFIC is a self funding statutory corporation which provides finance and insurance services to support Australian exporters and overseas investors where the private sector lacks capacity or willingness to help. EFIC is periodically reviewed by the Australian Government.

"The Export Finance and Insurance Corporation provides a valuable service to Australian exporters and overseas investors. This review will ensure that EFIC's operations remain relevant and competitive in a changing global financial and trading environment," Mr Vaile said.

The Australian Government welcomes the views of Australian exporters, financial service providers and any other interested parties, and is seeking public submissions by 21 April 2006.

Submissions will be made publicly available on the DFAT website unless the authors specifically indicate that they do not wish this to occur. Submissions may be lodged electronically to efic.review@dfat.gov.au (Word documents preferred) or by post to the following address:
