Vaile Condemns London Terrorist Attacks

The Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of The Nationals, Mark Vaile, has expressed his deep sorrow and sympathy to the people of London following the terrorist bomb blasts.

”Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families, including those Australians affected by this tragic event,” Mr Vaile said

“Australia has always had a close bond with England from both a cultural and historical perspective, and I know that 20 million Australians are sharing your grief at this time.

“I want to acknowledge the speed with which the UK Emergency Services responded to this crisis. It has been extremely well coordinated and I am sure that many lives have been saved because of the heroic work of the emergency services personnel.

“The commitment to fighting terrorism has never been stronger and acts like these will only strengthen the resolve of nations like Australia.

“I understand the concern that the relatives of the many thousands of Australians living or holidaying in London will be going through at this time.

“The Australian Government, my department and Australian High Commission staff in London are doing all they can to assist those Australians affected by the attacks as well as ensuring the safety of the remaining Australians.

“I would urge those relatives who have not been able to make contact with family and friends in London and are worried that they may have been caught up in the attacks to contact the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade,” Mr Vaile said.
