Australian Firm Wins Mining Contract in Indonesia
“An Australian mining and engineering company, Henry Walker Eltin Group Limited, has secured a multi-billion dollar mining contract in Indonesia” Trade Minister Mark Vaile announced today.
“I congratulate the company and wish it every success in its endeavours” said Mr Vaile. “This contract demonstrates the continuing opportunities for Australian companies in Indonesia.”
The Henry Walker Eltin Group has secured a A$1.7 billion contract with PT Kaltim Prima Coal for mine infrastructure development and to supply coal mining services over the next 10 years at the Bengalon project in East Kalimantan. It is the largest contract secured by the company. Estimates suggest there is in excess of 160 million tonnes of thermal coal at the site.
“The deal proves yet again that Australian companies are globally competitive” Mr Vaile said. “It also highlights the strong business links between Australia and Indonesia.”
The Henry Walker Eltin Group is not a new comer to Indonesia. The company knows the business environment well, having operated in the country since 1990.
