New Appointments to the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation
Board
Trade Minister Mark Vaile today announced the appointment of Mark
Paterson and Howard Davies as part-time Members of the Board of the
Export Finance and Insurance Corporation (EFIC).
Mr Paterson, the new Secretary of the Department of Industry, Tourism
and Resources, replaces Russell Higgins following his resignation
from the EFIC Board.
Mr Paterson was formerly the CEO of the Australian Chamber of Commerce
and Industry (ACCI) and has extensive experience representing exporters,
manufacturers and retailers.
“In announcing Mr Paterson’s appointment, I would like to acknowledge
the contribution made by Mr Higgins. Mr Higgins played an important
role as both the Government member and then as a private member during
a challenging period for EFIC. This included the Government’s response
to the Asian financial crisis, and the implementation of the credit
insurance alliance with NCM,” said Mr Vaile.
Mr Davies’ appointment fills a vacancy on the EFIC Board. Mr Davies
was formerly the Managing Director and Chairman of the insurance broking
business Bain Hogg Australia Ltd. He has extensive experience in
the insurance industry and will bring valuable expertise to the EFIC
Board. Mr Davies was also the Chairman of the Australian British
Chamber of Commerce (NSW) from May 1997 to May 1999 and continues
to provide consulting services in the insurance industry.
“I am very pleased to welcome Mr Paterson and Mr Davies, both of
whom will be excellent additions to the EFIC Board,” Mr Vaile said.
