Vaile Launches New Study on business in India
Federal Minister for Trade, Mark Vaile, today launched a study of Australian companies successfully doing business in India and urged other Australian companies to take advantage of the growing opportunities in the Indian market.
The website-based study, Winning in India: It's not a Sticky wicket, examines the experiences of 10 Australian businesses in the Indian market, with a view to pointing the way for other Australian organisations considering the exploration of India's vast economic potential.
Mr Vaile told a Trade and Investment Seminar in New Delhi: "I am particularly impressed with the calibre of Australian business representatives already operating in India and the foundation they have established for a stronger business community presence."
He told the seminar, hosted by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, that the potential for further expanding the economic cooperation between Australia and India was immense.
"Information technology and energy are two sectors with particularly large potential for expansion," Mr Vaile said. "Agribusiness, railways, ports, fisheries, mining, health, travel and education in India also offer valuable trade and investment opportunities for Australian companies.
"I would urge all Australian companies, no matter which sectors they are dealing in, to give serious consideration to the existing opportunities and potential opportunities that India offers."
