Exporters' guide to 'New Tax System'

Trade Minister, Mark Vaile, today launched a new guide designed to ensure Australian exporters take full advantage of the benefits offered by The New Tax System from July 1.

Produced by the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) the new brochure - 'Exporting and The New Tax System' - will be distributed to more than 17,000 exporters over the next few weeks.

The brochure covers a wide variety of export-related issues ranging from the effects The New Tax System will have on the Australian tax structure, how it will affect Austrade services, and how exporters should prepare for the implementation of the new system on July 1.

Mr Vaile said Australian exporters stood to save $3.5 billion a year as a result of the abolition of existing taxes.

"The New Tax System will cut the cost of producing goods and services for export and will significantly improve our competitiveness in international markets.

"However, if exporters are to maximise the benefits The New Tax System presents, it is essential they prepare accordingly," Mr Vaile said.

"This new Austrade publication provides an easy-to-follow guide to The New Tax System and those benefits," he said.
