A Sydney company selling swimming pool equipment is just one example of a growing and diverse range of Australian companies that are discovering the benefits of doing business in Latin America. Trade Minister, Mark Vaile, said Australian businesses of all sizes were now in the Latin American market, and to encourage more his Department has today released a new publication - "Doing Business in Latin America". The booklet provides a handy guide to all businesses interested in exporting and investing in these exciting markets. It includes articles from market experts and case studies that provide real examples of Australian companies doing well in these markets. Also included are overviews of the major markets and contacts. "Apart from a growing stake in minerals and energy, Australian firms have made investments in food processing and agriculture, insurance, advertising, entertainment and information technology," Mr Vaile said. "We're exporting mining equipment, cars, IT equipment and services, snackfood bag-makers, household furnishings and agricultural equipment." Mr Vaile urged the Australian business community to take advantage of the expanded direct air links with Latin America. "In the past decade, these markets have been transformed. They are more open, there are massive amounts being spent on infrastructure, and there is a large consumer market.
