SYDNEY MORNING HERALD STORY ON ADRIAN CRUICKSHANK

The Sydney Morning Herald has put quite the wrong interpretation on my actions in respect
of Mr Cruickshank

Official of the NSW National Party organisation did approach me for information regarding
opportunities for work overseas.

I advised that there were no Ambassadorial or High Commission posts available, and further that in my view appointment of former State Members to such positions was inappropriate.

l did undertake to ask my department to provide any information it had available on Vacancies in such bodies as the UN or UNESCO.

These would be positions for which Mr Cruickshank who I emphasise has previously served Australia as a diplomat might apply on his own merits. in much the same way as the former Federal Member for Fraser, John Langmore, recently secured a position with the UN.
