ROS KELLY - A STRONG MEMBER FOR CANBERRA
Senator Bob McMullan said today following the announcement by Ros Kelly of her impending resignation that she will be missed on a number of accounts: as an effective local representative, as a contributor to national policy debate and a pathfinder for women in politics.
"I have known Ros for twenty years and over that period I have come to regard her as a friend and admire her as a politician.
"She has served Canberra well in various positions especially since entering Federal Parliament as a Member of the House of Representatives in 1980.
"Ros is regarded as an effective advocate for Canberra both with the public and within the Government.
"There have been many fine achievements in Ros's career particularly within the area of the environment.
"Ros has been a fine role model for women with an interest in politics.
"I wish her and her family well in her life outside the hurly burly of politics," Senator McMullan said.
