CEBIT'95 - PROPHECY SEEKS PROFITS IN POLAND

The Adelaide-based software company, Prophecy, has signed a major agreement at the CeBIT trade fair in Germany with Rodan System, a Polish distribution company, the Minister for Trade, Senator Bob McMullan, said today.

"The agreement is expected to be worth $2 million over the next couple of years," Senator McMullan said.

"The deal is likely to give Prophecy software access to Polish government agencies and private business.

"Prophecy's success is indicative of the strong opportunities which exist for Australian companies looking to enter the emerging markets of Eastern Europe.

"CeBIT is the ideal gateway to these markets."

Prophecy's products include 24 applications for financing, human resources and logistic modules.

Its newest module - to manage billing for gas, electricity and water services - is expected to be of particular appeal to authorities from the Polish government utilities. The module manages the entire billing process from reading meters to sending out the bills, and deals quickly with discrepancy complaints.

Prophecy's General Manager, Ed Reynolds, said the Poland deal represents another important breakthrough for his company, which is also discussing possible business with interested partners and distributors from Germany, Hungary, France, Italy, the United Kingdom and Scandinavia.
