Export Awards Finalists Achieved $2.3 Billion in Export Earnings in 1994/95

Announcing the finalists for the 1995 Australian Export Awards, the Minister for Trade, Senator Bob McMullan, said today the leading Australian exporters lining up for the awards had earned a total of $2.3 billion dollars in export revenue in 1994/95.

Senator McMullan said there are 37 finalists this year, representing every State and Territory.

"Making the finals of these prestigious awards is just part of the recognition these companies deserve for their efforts in raising Australia's export performance," Senator McMullan said.

"In many fields of endeavour - from mangoes to rock music to railway rolling stock - the finalists have shown that Australian companies can take on the best in the world and win in increasingly competitive international markets.

"It is particularly pleasing to see Australia's traditional exports such as minerals and agricultural products alongside the new face of Australian exports in technology and services vying for this year's awards."

The finalists will compete for the six categories in the Australian Export Awards. The DHL Australian Exporter of the Year is selected from the six category winners.

The winners will be announced in Sydney on Tuesday 28 November. State and Territory export award winners qualify as finalists in the Australian Export Awards.
