Firemint innovation fuels export success

The Parliamentary Secretary for Trade, the Hon. Anthony Byrne MP today visited the offices of Australian Export Award winner Firemint to personally congratulate the company and its staff.

The Victorian games developer is responsible for two of the most popular paid iPhone games ever, Flight Control, and Real Racing.

At the company’s office in Richmond, Mr Byrne said the award acknowledged the company’s perseverance, innovation and commitment in international trade.

"This award is a significant achievement for a small company that has grown its business through export success.

"Established in 1999 as a work-for-hire company, Firemint has developed into a brand in its own right, and is now widely regarded as one of the top mobile games developers in the world."

Firemint won the state export awards program and then won the national award in the Arts and Entertainment category.

"The judges were impressed by the company’s phenomenal growth through its sales of the iPhone games, as well as its good risk management and highly responsive marketing campaigns," said Mr Byrne.

The Australian Export Awards is a national program that recognises and honours exporters who have achieved sustainable export growth through innovation and commitment.

"This year’s winners represent the diversity of the Australian business world, including small and large companies from rural and urban parts of Australia across a range of industries.

"Collectively, the winners generated $1.5 billion in export revenues and employed more than 2,400 people," said Mr Byrne.

The Australian Export Awards have been running for 47 years and is presented by Austrade and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
